ZIRCIKON = Zirc iconic places and people are on stage (#Zirc#icon#concept)

ZIRCikON is a free festival in Zirc, in the heart of the Bakony, which was first held in the spirit of the ECoC programme with the aim of providing a real ECoC experience for both local and regional residents and tourists visiting the area. In the course of the implementation, we attach great importance to the high quality of the cultural value mediation, the authentic presentation of our assets in an interactive way as well as to the actual addressing and involvement of the local-regional public. We take into account and integrate the horizontal priorities of ECoC (volunteering, visitor-friendly/barrier-free, green sustainability, child-friendly focus) into our programme during the planning, preparation and implementation, which also reflects our approach. ZIRCikON aims to increase access to and participation in culture for people in the region. Throughout the event, the city is transformed into a vibrant, interconnected set of experiences involving local institutions, historic churches, businesses, civil organisations and skilled volunteers. We strive to ensure that each programme is a continuous experience for young and old alike at every iconic point in the city. To sum up its characteristics in three words, ZIRCikON is innovative, unique and exceptional. It's a cultural event that focuses on local history, cultural memory, local values, music and dance, family-friendly programmes, community creativity and youth interactivity. Our main target group is the population of the Zirc district, the people of Veszprém county, the Bakony-Balaton region, but we also welcome guests from home and abroad, twin town guests, i.e. all those interested in culture, regardless of age, gender, nationality or family status. Focussing on the presentation of our rich cultural values, our history, traditions, built and natural treasures, we will highlight our attractions, encourage those who are interested to do handicrafts, historical playhouse, various museum educational activities, outdoor adventure experience elements, We want to make this August weekend memorable with the presentation of works by local or Zirc artists, children's shows, folk theatre, internationally renowned iconic performers, concerts, folk dance and barn dancing, interactive participation of our civil associations, local products, genuine Bakony flavours and hospitality. Participants will be able to pass on the knowledge, contacts and cultural experiences they have gained here, and the good reputation of Zirc, Veszprém and the whole region, refreshed by the pure Bakony air.
