Vindornyalak
Introduction
Vindornyalak is a village of about 100 inhabitants, located 19 km north of Keszthely. The most characteristic building in the village is Hertelendy mansion, built around 1780 with late Baroque features, now a community center with guest rooms. The church was built in the same period, designed by Bishop Gáspár Hertelendy in Neo-Classicist style. It is decorated with a Baroque organ and seccos. The ornate houses of burgesses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the village house converted from a farmhouse, and the sandstone crosses are all hallmarks of local architectural heritage. Hollókő rock rising on the southern side of Kovácsi Hill offers a view of the Vindornya Basin and the Zala Hills. The wines of the vineyards belonging to Zalaszentgrót Vintners’ Association represent local tradition.
