In TIHANY, one of the most beautiful towns on Lake Balaton, theater lovers can enjoy summer open-air theater performances. The open-air stage towers above the magnificent Inner Lake. The performances of the Tihany Open-Air Theater Games, which have been very successful in recent years, can be seen every Thursday in July and August, on Fridays and Saturdays.

The series of programs launched by István Bujtor has followed a unified concept since its inception. Our goal is to promote and make accessible the artistic values of Hungarian and world literature through high-quality, entertaining theatrical performances and light music concerts.

When putting together the program, it is important to consider that both older and younger age groups, as well as foreign holidaymakers and children and families, can find performances that appeal to them. We invite renowned theaters to perform their hit plays at the Tihany Open-Air Theater, and thanks to guest performances,, we are able to offer a wider audience the opportunity to enjoy an outstanding cultural experience.

We want to create opportunities for local residents and vacationers from across the country the opportunity to see successful plays from Budapest and other renowned theaters. For many, this is the only opportunity to see these plays, as they are unable to travel to other cities to see the theater's performances during the year.to other cities to see the performances.

The Tihany Open-Air Games were first held in 2004 on the initiative of István Bujtor, so that Tihany could join the ranks of settlements offering high-quality cultural programs.

The image of the program series has followed a consistent concept since 2004, creating a well-known and recognizable brand. Over the past decade, the event has become so well known that visitors to the region now take it into account when planning their itineraries.

The same people have been involved in the organization since 2004, thus ensuring high quality and smooth operation. There is close cooperation with the local government and other businesses in the area.

The stage is operated on the basis of a contract concluded with the Tihany Local Governmentfrom 2004 to 2021, and from 2021 onwards, it will be operated by Levendula Stage Cultural Nonprofit Ltd. Nonprofit Kft, which has made significant investments and developments in recent years (complete renovation of the stage, construction of a permanent roof, renovation of dressing rooms and other premises, replacement of auditorium seats, construction of a ticket booth, installation of sound and lighting equipment, etc.) Thanks to these improvements, we can welcome our dear audience and performing artists in a beautiful, modern environment that meets all requirements.

Tihanyi Szabadtéri Játékok Kft. continues to participate in the organizationand implementation of the Games, with one company contracting for one half of the invited performances and the other company contracting for the other half. Based on this agreement, the two companies apply separately for their own performances, but the program will continue to be put together by Judit Bujtor and Zoltán Mészáros, who have been doing this job since the beginning. We hire contractors for specific tasks, and thanks to our many years of experience, coordinating them is a breeze. Many local volunteers also help with the background work.
