Street Art international outdoor painting programme (Arena)

In 2023, in the spirit of the '12 Walls' - Paradigm Ariadne exhibition, previously implemented by the Veszprém - Balaton European Capital of Culture project, we held a series of art events based on broad social engagement.

Taking Italo Calvino's famous thoughts as a point of departure, the city is a place and a carrier of desires and memories. Our aim was to create a project that explored the historical heritage of Veszprém, focussing on the hidden aspects of the place and on how to uncover these. Elements of the process/concept: as a first step of the process, we gathered local professionals, artists and art groups who defined the main lines of the project in a workshop. We then launched an open call for applications for those working in the field of artistic creation, based on a defined theme and concept. The competition was judged by a professional jury. Our aim is to involve local, national and international actors in the implementation of the street art project in Veszprém.
