Street Art- Eagle-owls

On 10th March, Veszprém’s newest colorful addition was unveiled: a multi-storey mural depicting long-eared owls, gazing back at us from the wall of Hotel Veszprém. The artwork was realised through the collaboration between Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture and MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest), and it features the bird of the year 2020, designed by Annabella Perecz. The long-eared owl is the only bird species that doesn’t migrate and is comfortable living in cities. More and more of them are appearing in Veszprém each year, so if we’re lucky, we can admire them up close. While the mural already appeared complete on inauguration, it was soon further developed: the owls' eyes were painted with special paint, allowing them to glow at night.
