Somogyszentpál
Introduction
Somogyszentpál is a settlement located on the edge of the South Balaton Marshes, where history and traditions form a unique unity. The region, which has been developing since the time of the Hungarian conquest, preserves traces of the Celts, Germans, and Slavs, while the Baroque church, the Varjaskér ruins and the 26 roadside statues are also part of the cultural heritage. The country museum and thatched houses are reminiscent of folk architecture, while the narrow-gauge railway and Heroes' Square reinforce the unique atmosphere of the settlement.
Location & Accessibility
The settlement can be reached by car from Route 68 from Kéthely, or from the Somogy side roads via Csömend, as well as on the Balatonfenyves-Somogyszentpál narrow-gauge railway. Bus services from Marcali and Kéthely serve the locality.
