Reading Cabin, Csinger Valley

Located near Ajka, in the neighbourhood of Csinger Valley, just a few minutes' walk from the Mining Museum, this strikingly designed building combines the practicalities of a library reading room and a forest shelter for the night.Overlooking the forest, the enclosed timber structure, with a glass window covering the entire front wall, is an excellent structure for resting and as a hiking or overnight shelter. The shelves offer a wide range of literary and educational reading material. The idea for the cabin came from students at MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design), who built the 6-metre-long, 5-metre-high, but only 1.5-metre-wide wooden hut in 2022 in the course of a week. The woodwork was treated by burning, making the wooden structure more visible and blending in better with the surrounding forest of beech and hornbeam trunks.
