Ramassetter Visitor Center
Introduction
The Ramassetter Visitor Center is located in the center of Sümeg, one of the city's most significant architectural and intellectual treasures. Originally built in Baroque style, then rebuilt in eclectic style in the 19th century, this listed building was the home of Vince Ramassetter, the famous mayor and patron of Szeged. The aim of the visitor center is to present the history of the Ramassetter family and the rich cultural heritage of the town.
The interactive exhibition rooms provide information about the wine culture of the Balaton Uplands, pottery and blue dyeing traditions, as well as a summary of the city's history. The center features a 3D terrain table, a touchscreen map, quizzes, and artifacts, offering visitors both historical knowledge and an exciting discovery experience.
Location & Accessibility
The Ramassetter Visitor Center is located at 8 Deák Ferenc Street in Sümeg, along the tourist route between the Parish Church and the Franciscan Church. The location is easily accessible on foot from the city center, as well as by car, with free parking available nearby. For those arriving by public transport, the Sümeg bus stop and train station are located about a 10 minute walk away. Advance booking is recommended, especially for groups.
