Lovassy community space

The Municipality of Veszprém has created an open, community and sports area in the yard of Lovassy László Secondary School.

The central aim of the development was to create a valuable green space in the inner city fabric, which is not only used by students but also by local young people and visitors, i.e. an open community space in the middle of the city centre, which is visited by many people.

The structural elements of the yard have not been altered and the spatial scheme has been minimally modified. 

Within the school grounds, the entrance, the sports fields and the western boundary of the site have been renewed: The central element of the improvement was the creation of a central EPDM rubber-covered sports area, in line with 21st century requirements, where, in addition to the students, recreational sports fans can spend their leisure time.

The community function of the area is reinforced by the creation of a reception area in the school yard, linked to a public space.

Lovassy László Grammar School is a secondary school with a long tradition in the city, located in the centre of Veszprém, in a prominent location. The development has eliminated the physical separation between the school and the city centre and brought the students and residents of the institution closer together.  The development allows the school grounds to be integrated into the city's public space.
