The Smart Landscape Use Toolkit of the Balaton Uplands
Gastronomic migration, the fur dilemma, story trees and innovative newcomers. We aim to change the stereotypical perceptions of the Balaton Uplands. We will seek, collect and showcase the old and new values, practices, lifestyle patterns and future-shaping initiatives that help preserve the cultural landscape of the Balaton Uplands and demonstrate sustainable development perspectives, based on the real needs of the local population and visitors eager to learn about the region. This is what 'smart landscape use' means to us, which frames the Land P/reservation project as a new concept.
The goal of Land P/reservation is to initiate a dialogue about the smart landscape use in the Veszprém-Balaton Uplands region, connecting and supporting local residents, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, newcomers and those visiting for leisure purposes.
We have launched the region's largest comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research on the topic to assemble a toolkit that will serve as a foundation for organising events, developmental programmes and collaboration-promoting initiatives with local communities from autumn 2022 to the end of 2023.
During Land P/reservation, we will work with local residents and professional partners, developing pilot projects based on our experiences—with the intention that these can continue to operate with the strength of local communities after 2023.
We will prepare locally interpretable and practically usable proposals and toolkits for residents, newcomers and visitors. Through these, we will demonstrate how to connect with a historical landscape today, as well as how sustainable and adaptable lifestyles and community landscape use practices can be developed.
