Haszkovó running circle
Municipal public spaces are the most important physical spaces for urban life. They provide a space for both active and passive activities such as recreation, sports, games, leisure, meetings, celebrations and transport. In the year 2021, the needs of the inhabitants of the Jutas and Haszkovó housing estates - the most populated districts of Veszprém - for the development of public spaces in the district were assessed, which revealed, among other things, a strong demand for a coherent and integrated public space, a longitudinal, self-contained, continuous public space, a runway, to connect the main nodes of the neighbourhoods, which could also provide a new, hitherto missing infrastructure element for the transport of the neighbourhood. The project consists of the construction of a 3,256-metre-long running circuit, primarily bordered by recessed kerbs, with a recorticated pavement, consisting of a 1.50-metre-wide 'big circle' and two smaller 1 metre-wide 'school circles'. The route of the running circle crosses existing road and pavement surfaces in several places, where the recorticated pavement has been replaced by a painted trail and the damaged pavement surfaces along the trail have been renovated. The project will primarily target residents of the affected neighbourhoods, but we expect to attract people from all over Veszprém and the surrounding area. The target audience will be of all ages and the project will be suitable for use by both young people, particularly in the case of the school districts around the two primary schools in the area, and adults of an older age. It will become the central meeting point and most popular community space in the area.
