Cultnet: Salföld- Mine

In 2023, the Bakony-Balaton region turned to the public as the second home of contemporary art. In our CultNet programme, artists from the villages and their invited guests demonstrated the connective power of art, focussing on processes: the intensity of reception and the work of mediation. At eleven bases, the presence of modern art has become both a celebration and, to our great delight, part of everyday life in the region's more hidden villages this year.
CultNet programmes offered participants not only artistic events but also pathways to them, opportunities for training, shared learning and initiation, closely and personally linked to a concert, exhibition or theatre performance. The linkage was first established between local artists and the invited guest artists: getting to know each other's artistic (and non-artistic) worlds, the possibility of reciprocity, laid the foundations for medium-term collaborations. In each case, the more intense encounters between the public and the artists were shaped by local gifts and affinities, a particular genre or activity, which triggered and inspired joint thinking.
