Bishop's Gardens Sándor Nagy statue heads
Two years ago, art collector Anna Körmendi, owner of the Körmendi-Csák contemporary collection, offered a special and valuable part of her collection for purchase to the Municipality: a selection of stone portraits by Munkácsy Mihály Awardee sculptor Sándor Nagy (1923-2017). From the more than 100 works by Sándor Nagy in the collection, the Municipality purchased 41 selected portrait sculptures. These sculptures have been installed in one of the city's prominent cultural venues. Theatre Gardens proved to be an excellent location for displaying the works, where we came up with a creative solution for showcasing them. The sculptures were placed along the retaining wall of Óvári Ferenc Street on fine concrete stone brackets. There are four types of brackets: single, double, triple, and wall niche. The installation of the sculptures was complemented by other developments, including ambient lighting to make the sculptures visible at night, and an information board has also been installed at the site.
