Just an hour and a half's drive from Budapest, in the capital of Lake Balaton, Balatonfüred, and only a 5-minute walk from the famous Tagore Promenade, Balatonfüred Congress Centre has opened. With significant support from the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme, this impressive complex will not only serve as a venue for events but also as an exhibition space, hosting year-round exhibitions for visitors.
From the very beginning of the organisation process as the European Capital of Culture, our goal has been to strengthen the unity of the region and its inhabitants, bringing Veszprém closer to the 116 municipalities that joined us from the Bakony-Balaton region and fostering stronger connections.
Balatonfüred is perhaps our most important regional partner in the VEB2023 ECoC programme, as the town has played a prominent role in Hungarian culture since the Reform Era – a legacy we were able to build upon when identifying the common points between Füred and the ECoC programme.
