Altinger Winery Badacsony
The history of our family winery dates back three generations, when our paternal great-grandparents, József and Teréz, began cultivating grapes on a small plot of land measuring just 1,000 square meters in Badacsony.
Irma Lányuk Irma and her husband József later expanded the family estate by purchasing additional plantations. They planted the Badacsonyőr vineyard with Italian Riesling, which still serves as the center of the estate today. Irma and József devoted all their free time to viticulture. Their wines were enjoyed not only by family and friends, but also served as sacramental wine in the church.
Every summer, the five grandchildren helped out in the vineyard (although some of them would have preferred to go to the beach instead). The love of viticulture and winemaking ultimately stuck with the eldest grandchild, who later chose this as his profession and expanded the estate. Unfortunately, our great-grandparents and grandparents are no longer with us, but we still tend the vineyard today, keeping their teachings and guidance in mind...
Today, Krisztián is primarily responsible for the viticulture and winemaking work.
But every member of the family plays their part in the work, even Pamut the dog, who runs enthusiastically alongside the tractor through the vineyards.
Our wines are produced exclusively from our own vineyards, using oxidative and reductive processes under constant, careful supervision. Just the way we like it. We hope you will like it too!
